How do you get good at guitar quickly? How about without getting bored, or even worse, being totally confused? Do you want to know how to shred?

In Shred Lessons, our new weekly series with Cannon McDonald, Cannon teaches you how to shred! He’s going to cover everything from the basics up, but with fun and usable licks tabbed out on screen. This isn’t some undecipherable expert-tier series, nor is it boring music store-level lessons. It’s a great guitarist, teaching you how to get great: quickly.

This week’s video focuses on chords. If you missed last week’s lesson on intervals, I’d highly recommend checking that out first.

Cannon plays his arrangement of “Autumn Leaves,” and breaks down the chords used. Not only is learning how to use interesting chords important, but understanding how they fit within the concept of music theory as a whole is very mind-opening. Both building chords and understanding how they interact are important skills. Cannon breaks this down simply, and with tabs onscreen.

Check back every week for more from Cannon!
