Bass Guitar vs. 9 String Guitar

Any of us who play extended range instruments like 7, 8, or even 9 string guitars have heard this on multiple occasions…

“That’s so low… why don’t you just play a bass?”

In all fairness, it’s usually coming from people who don’t understand the difference between a bass and a guitar other than “one is lower.”

But even some of our fellow string-slingers get on our backs simply because they don’t “get” extended range instruments.
