When ESP debuted the Horizon III, I wasn’t thrilled. Why mess with a classic? Why change something that been proven to be an amazing guitar…

I’m sitting here, now eating my words. The Horizon III’s updated carves make it exceptionally comfortable. The deep cutaway paired with neck-thru construction gives you excellent access to higher frets. It’s not apparent just how curvey these guitars are until you hold one in person. What about the tones though? Can the Horizon III keep up with its older brother?

The answer is yes. These sound very similar to the original Horizon. If you want the same crushing, thick tones in a more ergonomic package, then the III is the ESP for you. What I’m more impressed by on these newer Japanese ESP are the subtle features that they don’t mention on their site…

Subtle things like the balled fret ends, invisible fret tangs, and immense attention to detail around the area where the nut is installed are what makes these guitars truly next level.

  • Neckthru for easy access to upper frets.
  • 25.5″ scale length.
  • Alder body wood.
  • Flamed maple top to add more brightness and snap to the guitar
  • 3 piece maple neck, ensuring stability.
  • Ebony fretboard, which provides more attack than a rosewood or maple fretboard.
  • 12 inch/305mm radius, making it easy to play complex music.
  • Bone nut, which sounds better than the cheaper plastic nuts you find on other guitars.
  • 42mm nut width.
  • Thin U shape neck.
  • 24 extra jumbo frets.
  • Schaller straplocks.
  • Gotoh locking tuners and hardware.
  • Seymour Duncan Jazz and Custom 5 pickups.
  • Volume, tone knob, and toggle switch.
  • Original hardshell case is included.
